Independence Day

I suddenly realized the tough part about having neck surgery.
Besides gearing up for the whole chicken part of it all... and it is frustrating when the kids say they're going to help around the house... but the worst of all?
Is not being able to drive.
Those women who live in Moslem countries and can't drive? Oh man. I would love to see anyone try that with Americans.
Just one day I have actually really, really missed this... I sent my son to the bank to do some business for me. He couldn't do what I wanted so I ended up having to move all kinds of money around via a flurry of checks to get it all where I wanted it to go. Sigh.
So he dropped me off at home. I didn't want anything in the house for lunch. I can't go shopping. I have 7 Michaels's 40% off coupons I can't go use. I have $7.00 in CVS bucks. I have kids who want to go swimming across town. I have boxes to my grandma and my dad to mail. Ok, well, they've been on the desk a while (blowing dust off) but they still need to go and I can't take them.
I know if this was going to last long I would go bonkers, or start riding the bus.
We so love our independence. We really do. No one can make us live somewhere or tell us what we can eat, even with food stamps the choices are huge. I don't have to get gas on a certain day or at a certain gas station.
So it's just fitting that I get a sturdy reminder of how fiercly I feel about independence right before Independence Day. May God bless all the Real Americans who protest taxation without intelligence, military strategy by untrained politicians, and international policy set by terrorists and pacifiers. It's not in our nature to complain or protest, but to work harder; which makes it all the more important for us to stand our ground when we feel our rights are being impinged. May God Bless America!
